Drunken Crooning

music: humming in my head

Well, I went to the airport to pick up my dad, and got lost. Twice. AND parked in the wrong parking lot. Then I was waiting for him in the wrong terminal. When time passed and he didn't show, I began to wonder. Then worry. So I called my mom, who by talking to me slowly came to the realization that I was quite far from where I was supposed to be. I ran through the airport, looking for the turquoise Seattle Seahawks baseball cap my dad had promised to wear (helps me spot him in a crowd). I almost bumped into him, and I'd already apologized and darted around him before it dawned on me who he was. The baldness threw me off, I was looking for the cap, which he was. not. wearing.

Right.

So we came home, he showered, and we headed off for my mother's Goodbye Shindig. The karaoke machine was quite fun. We found it safer to perform in large groups of between five and fifteen, which ended up being a lot of fun. I joined in the drunken chorus of "Hey Jude," then "Pretty Woman," "The Lion Sleeps Tonight," "I Got You Babe".. I forget the rest. I didn't eat much, I had a few bites of potato salad and some noodles. I got several more graduation gifts (I guess it was a convenient time for them to give them to me), and when I got home my mom and dad presented me with my beautiful new digital camera, the one I had asked for. It's lovely, and about two inches by four inches with a 6x optical zoom and 2.0 mega pixels (I didn't want them to break the bank or anything). It's an awesome, extremely compact little thing, silver with a neckstrap and everything. Lovely!

I'm soaring along through Colin Powell's autobiography. I don't think I mentioned that I'm reading that. Well, I am, and it's so good that I think I ought to become his marketing director (I've been thrusting it in the faces of everyone I meet, singing its praises and then ordering them to read it at once).

I expect that's all there is to say tonight. I'm spending the day with Roxiekins tomorrow, we're going to pick out my new ring! And bake a cake for Cesar, who turns 18 this weekend. :) So much to do, so little time!
