So today was the day. Woke up early, to begin with. Then began Roxie And Maggy's Last Official Day To Do Fun Things.
We had breakfast at Taco Cabana. We wore fiesta wreaths in our hair, but it was so early in the a.m. that I doubt anyone even noticed. We took them off when we arrived at The Mall.
Inside, I bought Roxie a charm for her bracelet, and then we picked out the sapphire ring I'm buying with my grad money. It's lovely, and ready for pickup on Thursday! We also went (shhh) lingerie shopping. Then we bought oodles of jewelry at Claire's.
Next stop, Dairy Queen for a Hawaiian blizzard. That's got pineapple, coconut and banana in soft serve vanilla. Yum!
Then the movie theater, where we saw Down With Love. I spent a greater part of the movie pouting at Renee's "stupid" character, but was redeemed in the end I suppose.
Lunch at La Madeline. I had a spinach pochette and a cesar salade. Roxie had French Onion Soup (in HOT WEATHER because she's WEIRD) and a salade. Everything was yummy.
Then Roxie's house, where we baked a strawberry cake, she gave me presents (candles, journal, teddy bear book!) and we went swimming in her pool. Took a zillion and one pictures.
Went to my house, where chaos reigns. Managed to get the cake carrier and my straightening iron and escape unscathed.
Back at Roxie's, her mom iced the cake and we got dressed for Cici's. Sped like fucking mad to get there, then arrived early. Figures.
Everyone showed up relatively close together. The two of us, Jenn, Evan, Sean, Alex, John & Chris, Cesar, Kylie, and my parents. Shaun, James and Danielle came when they got off work. Getting tables was a piece of work. There were three tour buses and it's a Saturday night to begin with. But we did, and everything worked out. We took heaps of pictures, and everybody signed my book and said a "Goodbye" to Evan's videocamera. He made me say goodbye to myself and my speech was something like, "You guys all suck, and you're going to be totally jealous of me because I get to go off somewhere neat and make all new friends when you guys are just stuck with each other! And I promise never to write, not to miss you, and to forget your names by July." It was fun.
Stayed until about 10. Went back to Roxie's for a bit, then home. Tired. More tomorrow. And happy birthday, Cesar.
