Robert Frost Hit The Damn Nail On The Head

music: "Frozen," Madonna

Well, the J's are here for a visit. Things could be going better so far but it's alright. We've been doing a lot of fun things, just not getting along so well.

I don't know, I don't really feel like writing about it. It all comes down to that depressing fact that people change. I'm not just talking about them of course, because I know I'm different too.

It was strange because for that moment in the airport, when we'd all spotted each other from a distance, it seemed like right there, in that moment, life was perfect. They were with me there and they always had been, it was like they had been with me here all summer. I never left them, we still talk as much, we still knew all each other's secrets and private jokes. But nothing gold can stay, can it?

Anyway, what we've been doing is fun so I'll relate that. The first day we decided we wanted to hit the top of the mountain range that overlooks Boise. So we just all piled in the car and drove up 8th, all the way up that frickin mountain. At some points I got rather nervous, because I'm still learning what it feels like to drive around breakneck cliffs with no railings with cars speeding at you in the other narrow lane. I was grossed out by the fist-sized black crickets that littered the road, almost to where you could imagine that sickening "crunch" when you (unavoidably) ran them over. UUugh. *Shudders*

Yesterday after my Economics class we went paddleboating on the pond, ate pizza in the park and then swam in the river. For some nightlife we went to an all-ages club downtown, but most of the group (we'd collected several 'tag-alongs' at that point) didn't want to dance. Alright, I recognize it was bump and grind, but if you can't do that you're going to have a hard time when it comes time to do the dirty. Trust me. Bump and grind is nasty to some people but I find it sexy. I don't know why. Anyway Jenn and I got frustrated at some point so we all took off to find a gas station.

We were still downtown and they have this parking lot thing that's just a deserted place where kids hang out, so we all sat in the back of the pickup and smoked and talked. It was rather relaxing.

When I came home about 12:40 a.m. I commenced studying for the Economics final I had at 7:30 this morning. Shockingly, I got enough sleep (about 5 hours) and I'm definitely sure I passed!! Now if only I were so confident about sociology....
