Marlins vs. Chicago Cubs!!! Go Marlins!
Anyway.
I go for a walk around the neighborhood twice a day. Morning with Grandpa, evening with Grandma, Ms. E. & Cody (the dog). I thought I was doing pretty well -- making small talk, observing stuff. But the fact is, I still have a lot to learn.
Ms. E. brought her visiting granddaughter, Kelly, tonight. Kelly is six years old, blonde and blue-eyed. Ms. E and Gram walked behind us and I struck up a conversation with Kelly while we walked Cody further in front. Turns out kids are more fun than we remember. I seem to forget that, even daily. Kelly raced Cody and I -- running just for fun, not to be fit. She made little smiley faces out of leaves we passed on the sidewalk. She found the most gorgeous (but somewhat hidden) yellow flower on an otherwise barren bush, and two leaves stuck together that opened up to look like a butterfly.
Luckily, I managed to make her laugh a few times. I wish everyone could be a kid again, even if for a little while, so that we could all see things in perspective. There's hidden beauty and fascination even in the things we see every day. If you don't believe me, look at a Norman Rockwell. :-D
