A Working Woman Once Again
20 October 2003 / 9:19 pm

Well, today was my first day at work. My feet are incredibly sore but other than that, nothing negative to say. I trained under 5 cashiers over the course of my 9-hour(!) shift. It's actually vaguely interesting scanning people's groceries. You can see why they're thin, why they aren't, and what the weird stuff is (like 7 people bought sushi over the course of the day -- it actually would have looked yummy if I ate that stuff).

I have my final stuff to do at Best Buy tomorrow. Signing the rest of the papers and whatnot. Who knows if I'm going to keep that job, or the one at Publix. Publix is hard labor, that much I will tell you. In nine hours I got one break, and other than that I didn't get to sit down. I didn't even really get to look around to see who else was working. Of course, it wasn't slow at all during the day, which I guess would've given me a chance to do those things.

My biggest problem is memorizing codes for fruits and vegetables. I'm learning somewhat quickly, but there are soooo many I don't know. The cashiers said they never did learn them all, only the common ones. Surprisingly, green onions, green peppers and cucumbers were the things I checked the most of. Well, bananas too. But nothing normal like apples or anything like that. Only a few people like apples, I guess.

Anyway, to bed with me. /oh tired
